Autoworld is a venue for conventions, events and meetings but is also the site of an auto museum which displays over 250 vehicles from various countries and different historic periods. Through the exhibition you can trace the history of the automobile from antique classic cars to the latest models. The museum was inspired by King Leopold II of Belgium (1835-1909) who focused on developing the capital with modern infrastructure, grand boulevards and expansive parks.
One of his projects was the Cinquantenaire Park Palace Exhibition Center which was constantly redeveloped and expanded to accommodate Expos and museums. In 1985 the Autoworld Museum was installed in the southern hall dating back to 1934. One of the zones of the museum highlights the Belgian connection to the automobile. Here 20 vehicles are on display as well as many illustrations and an extensive iconography. The country was responsible for a number of "firsts" in the car industry which are all highlighted in this zone of the museum.
