The Ribeira district is all about medieval streets and interesting dark alleys. However it's a fascinating place, which has at its center the "Praça da Ribeira". With traditional boats floating and colourful old houses, this is the most picturesque spot of the city declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.  It has a unique atmosphere and in the evening becomes a different attraction. There are dozens of cafes, bars and restaurants, sheltered under medieval arches, making it one of the most popular districts in town to eat and drink.
