What from the outside looks like an ordinary building of the fourteenth century, has within it the most extraordinary church in Porto. It features a gothic and “Manoelino” style from the outside and a Baroque interior. The most spectacular part is the extensive gold works and the sculptures in wood with golden columns and pillars. It is said here that there are about 400 kg of gold. The little which is not covered in pure gold are, for example, the Gothic arches with ribs made ​​of marble.
