The Jerónimos Monastery or Hieronymites Monastery,located near the shore of the parish of Belem, in the Lisbon Municipality.

The monastery is one of the most prominent examples of the Portuguese Late Gothic Manueline style of architecture in Lisbon. It was classified a UNESCO Wolrd Heritage Site in 1983. The resting place of explorer Vasco da Gama is a church built in the 1500s as part of a magnificent monastery. Its cloisters are considered among the most beautiful in the world
