This is definitely the top attraction in Brussels. In among the narrow lanes of the historic city center at 31 Rue de l'Etuve (lievevrouwbroersstraat) stands the statue of a little boy taking a pee. The statue is only 61cm high and is made of bronze, it is a fountain statue. The thing that makes it so special, apart from being quite unusual is the amount of stories surrounding the much loved figure.
Legend has it that a tourist in Brussels lost his son and found him peeing on this spot and so gifted the statue to the city. Another tale places the boy at the center of the sieged city. The boy is said to have found explosives and peed on them to neutralize them. In fact the statue was created in the 17th century by J. Duquesnoy the Elder. The poor little boy has been the victim of vandalism and was even kidnapped in 1745 by the English and in 1746 and 1817 by the French.
