Hollywood has used Plaza de España as the setting for cinematic opulence, in both “Star Wars” and Sacha Baron Cohen’s “The Dictator”.

It’s a magnificent space – wide, sweeping and semi-circular, with a canal following the colonnade’s curve.

Along the inner wall, alcoves with vibrant tiles represent each of Spain’s provinces, from A to Zaragoza.
