The Catholic Our Lady of the Sablon in Brussels is a late-Brabantine Gothic church constructed in the 15th - 16th century. The church began in 1304 as a simple chapel for the men of the Crossbowmen's guild. A century later the church was enlarged to accommodate the pilgrims who came to see a statue of Madonna which was said to have healing powers.
The statue no longer exists but was shrouded in tales of intrigue and was thought to have been stolen from Antwerp. After completion of the church two Baroque chapels were added by the Thurn und Taxis family which lived opposite the church.
